Expectations of a Chaplaincy Partnership with Genr8 Schools Ministries

We understand that a Genr8 Chaplaincy Partnership requires the successful application by the school for new National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP) funding, and the nomination by the school of Genr8 Schools Ministries as the chaplaincy sponsor/employer.

We understand that GenR8 will supply us with the messaging for communicating with the school about applying for chaplaincy funding.

We understand that GenR8 will supply us and the school with a chaplaincy kit providing detailed information on the operation of a Genr8 chaplaincy and partnership to provide all the information we will need for us, the school and GenR8 to formally enter a Partnership Agreement.

We understand that any chaplain sponsored by GenR8 will need to subscribe to the Scripture Union Statement of Belief and the Nicene Creed. As a religious practitioner in the terms of the GenR8 private ruling from the ATO with regard to provision for Fringe Benefit Tax Exemption for our employees, these standards of belief are the core Christian beliefs that the chaplain must be a recognised authority within the school community, and the minimum qualification required is a non-graduate Diploma in Theology (with chaplaincy subjects) or equivalent or better. A suitable person may be fully employed as a trainee chaplain while studying the diploma part-time.

We understand that should the school nominate GenRr8 Ministries as sponsor and be successful in being awarded a chaplaincy grant, and we then enter a Partnership Agreement with GenR8 and the school, we will be undertaking to form and maintain a Chaplaincy Support Committee (CSC) of at least four members taken from either our own church membership alone or taken from our own and other local Christian churches. All committee members must be able to subscribe to the Scripture Union Statement of Belief and the Nicene Creed.

We understand the CSC will:

  • provide general pastoral support and encouragement to the chaplain;

  • work with GenR8 to ensure the chaplain attends receives required training;

  • liaise with the school about appropriate ways to promote the chaplaincy in the local community;

  • ensure the work of the chaplain is publicised and prayed for in supporting churches;

  • with fundraising resources and guidance from GenR8 raise the estimated $4,000 additional amount required to meet the full salary package and other expenses for the chaplain;

  • alert GenR8 and the school to any significant concerns about the work conditions, performance and well-being of the chaplain;

  • assist GenR8 in finding and interviewing a suitable candidate for GenR8 to propose to the school Principal to appoint as chaplain.
